Universal Audio hardly needs any further introduction.

Universal Audio is a legend in the pro audio and recording industry, founded by Bill Putnam Sr in 1958. Bill Putnam Sr was the inventor of the modern recording console, multi-band audio equalizer, and the vocal booth - and the first engineer to use artificial reverb in a recording. Bill Putnam Sr.'s companies (UA, Urei and Studio Electronics) developed build industry standards like the 610 tube recording console, the LA-2A and 1176 compressors.

Universal Audio was re-launched in 1999 by Bill Putnam Sr's sons James and Bill Putnam Jr, who recreated the vintage products designed by their father and a new generation of DSP based products, audio interfaces and plug-in products.

In very recent years Universal Audio has released a line of high end products aimed directly at guitar players, including the modern day classic OX Amp Top Box and a line of effects pedals replicating the most sort after classic effects and amplifiers in the history of guitar music, the UAFX Pedals.
