KingTone MiniFuzz Ge Fuzz

KingTone's compact masterpiece of a Fuzz Face type pedal with Bias Set Light and germanium diodes which are known, loved and coveted for their unique warm, organic and dynamic tonal characteristics.

Vintage Fuzz tones with 2 vintage Germanium transistors

This pedal delivers perfect vintage germanium fuzz tones reminiscent of the tones from KingTones legendary Vintage Fuzz but in a simpler and smaller design utilizing 2 vintage germanium transistors.

The MiniFuzz Ge has a large control for volume, large enough that you can adjust it with your foot mid song if needed.

Other controls are for Fuzz and Bias.

External BIAS Control

On vintage fuzz pedals players would often have to open them up and adjust the bias on each gig to have the pedal sound its best.

KingTone has made the Bias control available to the player to bias adjust for temperature or simply to experiment with different sounds by under or over biasing.

BIAS for temperature

Germanium fuzz pedals are notoriously known for being sensitive to temperature changes. Sensitive to the point that a fuzz might sound perfect one night and thin and terrible the next if the temperature changes significantly. This makes many players either open their germanium fuzz pedal and bias it using a multimeter for each studio session or important concert, or simply leave the germanium fuzz for studio sessions and use a silicon fuzz live instead.

Well not anymore - now you can have your germanium fuzz and use it every night in any setting, thanks to the external Bias control and Bias indicator light, that lets you know exactly when the bias is set correctly for a given temperature. In fact the Bias indicator light indicates - and thus lets you explore - the unique and distinctive tones of under-biased, correctly-(or center-biased and over-biased tones.

3-Way toggle for more tonal options : Fat / Full - Zonk - Vintage

The 3-way toggle let you tailor tone and response of the pedal even more to your liking.

Fat/Full gives you the classic '60's fuzz sound with a lot of warmth and bass as the pedal allows the full range of your guitar to get through, and the pedal cleans up really well.

Zonk is reminiscent of the '60's ToneBender type tones, more gritty, more midrange and the pedal cuts through a mix beautifully. If you set the Bias high or low you get some very interesting fuzz sounds full of character and grit. Set the Bias low and you can get a slightly broken and gated fuzz sound.

Vintage rolls off some of the lows and low mids as it simulates an old fuzz where the capacitors have degraded over time. The Vintage setting retains the classic fuzz tones and sounds great in a full band setting. This setting is especially useful if you are playing a humbucker-equipped guitar or just want to use other pickups than a strats bridge pickup, as many fuzz pedals have so much low end that even a strat neck pickup can get mushy sounding.

DC Power filtering

The MiniFuzz Ge has an internal DIP switch to engage DC power filtering, which help make the pedal sound more like it is battery powered when powering it with DC from a power supply.

Build quality

The pedal not only looks beautiful, it's hand-wired using best in class components on a custom designed PCB and constructed to withstand a lifetime of touring.

Germanium vs Silicon:

The miniFUZZ Ge has a warm, almost overdrive like fuzz tone, it cleans up well to a beautiful, bright glassy clean tone.
The Ge is is sensitive to high temperatures so if you live in a hot climate or do a lot of outdoor summer shows you might want to consider the silicon version.

The miniFUZZ Si is still warm but has a more classic fuzzy tone, also has more lows and highs, more full range.
It also cleans up well, with a beautiful, glassy clean tone, very slightly more crisp than the germanium version. The Si is not temperature sensitive.
It is easier to get the low bias, gated tones than with the germanium version.
